BIOGRAPHY
Emmanouil Papadopoulos is a London-based pianist, composer and conductor. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Piano Performance with honours of the First Class, under the tutelage of Stephen Coombs, he has collaborated with a wide range of instrumentalists as well as dancers, bringing innovative, cross-collaborative programs to life, whilst maintaining a strong interest in the positive impact of music in the society.

Whilst in Glasgow, he also studied the organ with David Hamilton, deputising for services around the city and assisting organists in major venues around the country, such as the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and St Giles' and Glasgow Cathedrals. At the same time, he developed a passion for conducting, establishing the RCS Keyboard Choir, with the aim to explore the connection between keyboard works and the human voice.

At the heart of Emmanouil's music-making lies improvisation, a facet of the world of art he was introduced to through the everyday, idiosyncratic sounds of his native Greece. In the years that followed, he studied with distinguished individuals in the field, such as David Dolan and Anto Pett, and developed skills in both the more defined "classical" and the boundless "free" improvisation, styles which he frequently incorporates in his performances and compositions. Together with his background in Byzantine Chant and traditional Greek music, he experiments with a wide palette of soundscapes and performance styles with an aim to liberate, excite, and open new pathways to artistic expression.

His latest projects involve the transcriptive work of Leopold Godowsky and the music of Federico Mompou and Francis Poulenc.
